Okay, fresh pictures.

Here is what I did on Saturday, one side-not the whole thing.  Read the previous posts for that.  I hung around with my husband on Sunday, so took a little break that day.  Sometimes when you work so hard on something, you have to put it down. I did a little mending instead and some housework.

Didn’t quite finish the other side, but it’s coming along.

My husband says my focal beads don’t quite work, but there is enough orange in them, kind of, that it does help break up that bright blue color.

And here is my nug nug. She is feeling a little better now that she is not hiding out.  We can be a little more attentive to her needs.

Okay, thanks for now, see you soon.

Haven’t taken pictures today yet….

But I have been working on my necklace.  I have almost finished the other side before the bib starts.

Remember this was where I started today, and now I have the other side almost completed.  I had to put it down after a while.  Ya get kinda crazy after a while.   So tommorrow when the light is better I will take some pictures of my before and after working on it on sunday photos.  I am so happy that I had a few hanks of the color blue for me to go on.  I’ve used about one and one-half hank so far, and the orange beads are some of the ming tree beads, 1/4 lb package, and have used about 1/2 of them so far.  I’m trying to use more of the blue, just because I overbought (12 hanks) of that color, but it worked out beautifully.

Since I have done a little bead embroidery, I figured when I had my last bead order, I would by a mix of some cabochens.  I really was happy with this assortment.  I keep ordering different assortments everytime I order just to see how good the quality is, etc etc.  Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes it wasn’t worth the purchase.

But a couple of issue ago, in Bead and Button, one of the designers did this crazy colored bracelet and it was made up of acrylic beads.  Of course I love the feel of glass, and gemstones, but to see that creation she had made with those funky acrylic beads opened my eyes to what could be done.  And of course, it is cheaper to buy some of those.  Now I just buy some with some really cool cuts, like to briolettes that I bought with my last bead order.  I haven’t used them yet, but I will.

The Broilettes are the package in the top left of this photo.  I will take them out of the package and take a better picture soon.  I love to take pictures of my bead order when it arrives, before the sorting begins.

One of the things that I do these days is to make sure I label the current date, and how much I paid for them.  I always keep the original label with that information if I remove the outer package and store in a cloth bag (as you want to with pearls), so that I know what I paid for the product, and the year, so that I can have a vague idea of the money I put into the project in reflecting a selling price.  I find it really helpful now that I have bought for three years now and the prices have fluctuated because of minimum wage increases, and the current fuel costs, and global costs.

Here is the newest member of the entourage in our house.  He started strolling in for some food and sleep, though he is kind of a neighborhood cat, but we have spayed him and taken him to the vet now, and still comes by on a daily basis.  He has much competition, but has been doing well, and calls very loudly at all the doors if he is ready for a visit.

Thanks for tuning in.

I’ve had a few days off so….

I was able to work on my project a little.  Housework be damned!   Oh just kidding! I have done some stuff, I’m not a total slacker, but you would never know it if you see the house.    Okay, back to the real deal.

Working on the bib. This was probably Monday, or Tuesday.

A couple of days later I evened out the sides, I did 35 picot points on each side.  The instructions in Bead and Button also have two variables of bib size.  I made mine wide and elegant.  I like volume and weight sometimes in a necklace. This was probably Wednesday.

Here I’ve added the closure.  I found this real nice stone in a batch of stuff that a friend gave me once.  It is some sort of stone.  It fits really tightly though through the loop on the other side.  Hopefully it will loosen up.  Though I do have a tendancy of going through both closures as many times as I can, say about four rotations.  Sometimes it makes for really tightening up my loops.  But hey, you don’t want it to break do you?

This was Thursday.

Now for Friday…

Okay the end of Friday night it was looking kind of like this next picture.

another camera angle.

and a close-up.

Okay, some of the days I have a little mixed up.  I keep telling myself that I’m going to calculate my time and “clock in” so to speak.  At least though I am keeping some notes of the designs that I start if I’m using someones designs. And where I got it from.  So far I haven’t sold much stuff.  I have bartered a few necklaces to a friend and I have given stuff away to some special friends.  Though I keep getting requests cause I wear this stuff like crazy at work so I can show it off.  I finally found that I have some skill at something really tangible and wearable.

Oh yeah, let me show you something I started a while ago, almost one of my first projects ever, but I love it, nontheless.

This is one of those craft bags ready made the art stores sell.  So here I was buying all these assorted bead collections, and had a few around as well, and just started putting parts together.  I know there is no color theme here at all, I just make sure one section of beads is a different color than the next one, and hopefully something that kind of pops.

Here is a picture of Nuggers that I took a couple of weeks ago.  Lately she has been ill, and has lost some weight, so we are praying that she is okay and we can get her healthy again.

Thanks for catching up and happy beading!

I’m hoping for some current pictures on my camera….

Hello, I’ve been furiously working on a necklace from Bead and Button Magazine.  Sometimes, I only work on them for an hour or so, then put them down for a day or two, while trying to get chores done, or so forth.   But this design is definatly right up my alley.  I love some of these complicated pieces, because they are fabulous to hold and feel, the texture, the weight and the drape.  And definatly the “wow” factor.  So the piece I’m working on is the netted necklace by Aasia Hamid in the BB issue of April 2009.  She calls this piece “Netting Creative Network”, so basically a base of netting with loops of beads across the whole piece accented by larger focal beads.

So this is basically the starting point…it is the middle of the length of the front collar of the necklace.  I started this about two weeks ago, but like I said I put things off, as I have also been working on some bead embroidery projects as well.

Here it is coming together, I’m getting ready to start in the center to finish the bib part.  I have a habit of tying off my ends.  I get frazzled if I have strings dangling around to tie into later.  I might as well do it and change course when my thread finishes. (sorry a tangent!)

Now this is more how it looks after today.

This was what it looked like this morning.  I worked on it on Friday and Saturday for a couple of hours. And then I hit it again today while my husband was at his second job.

So it is getting closer to being the right size.  I kind of like my necklaces to be a little shorter on my neck than longer.  I have to wear a polo shirt uniform and I like to wear them there where people can actually see them, instead them being down in my cleavage or hanging out in my bra.  Plus I have to do alot of leaning over and I don’t like them dangling and bobbing.

Really I have alot of other things to show you, but I need to take some pictures.  I really have been doing some beading lately, I know that I have grown a larger rear because of it, but now the weather is turning and my exercise level is up.

I also got a bead order in January and haven’t posted those pictures yet, here is a preview.  I will post some more tomorrow.

I’m blessed to be able to order from a catalog instead of just having to buy my beads at the local craft store.  There my in-between bead buying fixes.  Man I sure wish there was some large bead stores around middle America.

Thanks for tuning in!

I’ve been beading again….

and trying to get some exercise as well.  I stand on my feet for hours everyday, so right now my exercise is the recumbant style.  I’m so glad my husband bought some quality equipment before I met him!    So I will post some pictures soon of some of the projects that I made and a bead order from recently.

I hadn’t ordered beads for over a year, and thought it was time to again.  I upped my order as I do every time I order so that was kind of exciting.  I was a little bummed that I ordered 4mm swavorski bicones and received 3mm instead.  So I just have been looking for some different projects to use them.  I ordered some cabochons so that I could try some more intense bead embroidery and getting inspiration from Sherry Serefini’s site.  She is incredible because she picks her colors and puts a few elements together but doesn’t do “designing” on paper.  I love that as some times just reading some of the instructions are enough, let alone to follow a pattern on graph paper.  But that may be explains some of my problems that I encounter.

I will upload some photos soon and take some pictures of some of my current projects.  I’m working on a collar necklace and doing some bead embroidery on a craft store bag.

See ya soon
